Obituary Overview
In Loving Memory
It is with sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Bernard George Smyth age 76 of Tidnish Head Road on Monday December 3, 2018 at his residence with his loving wife nearby.
Born September 16, 1942 in Halifax, Bernie was a son of the late Francis Valentine and Ethel (Jones) Smyth.
Bernie was a proud member of the Berwick Lions club and he served as King Lion for two terms.
He was an active member of the Canadian Red Cross, Amherst up until his passing.
Bernie enjoyed a successful career with the Nova Scotia Government for many years with the Nova Scotia Tax Commission.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 53 years, Rita (Landry); daughter, Jeni (Magni) Piepgrass, Calgary, AB; grandsons, Marshall Piepgrass and Bjorn Magnason; brother, Stephen Smyth, Nova Scotia; several nieces, nephews and extended family.
Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Campbell’s Funeral Home, Amherst (902) 667-9906.
A Celebration of Bernie’s Life will be held on Sunday, December 9, 2018 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at the Tidnish Community Centre, 4358, Highway 366, Tidnish Cross Roads, B4H 3X9.
In lieu of floral tributes, donation can be made to the Canadian Red Cross.
