LANDIS – It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Barry Dean Landis, 68, of Bassano, Alberta. Barry left us March 19, 2018, at the Foothills Medical Centre, with close family by his side.
Barry was born in Havre, Montana June 23, 1949, to Bert and Jean Landis, while they were working at the Q Ranch. Barry spent his entire life in the Bassano area working for XL Ranches, Pete Steinbach, and later for Joey and Trish at Snake Lake Ranches. Throughout his life he had many successes with leatherwork, was a very gifted welder and fabricator, and much of the equipment and other ironwork he built is still in use today. Barry also had an endless knowledge of farming and livestock, making him a valuable source of advice at anytime.
Despite having childhood polio, scoliosis (which resulted in a year’s stay at the children’s hospital), and a few other unfortunate mishaps, you would never have heard a complaint, as he remained forever grateful, gentle, and kind. Barry greatly loved visits from the kids, friends, and family; He was always ready to tell stories, catch up on their lives, and share his wisdom. He had a pure heart of gold and will be missed dearly.
Barry is survived by his son, Spencer Clulee, brother Earl (Lorna), sisters Anita (Roderick) Roen, Donna (Don) Mowat, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A private family service will be held in the spring when the snow has melted and the grass is green.

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Barry D Landis June 23 1949 March 19 2018.source
