Anke C. Klohn
1927-2018
Anke C. Klohn of Saint John NB passed away peacefully on May
21, 2018 at the Saint John Regional Hospital.
Born on December 23, 1927 in Kiel, Germany, Anke
was the loving wife of Hans W. Klohn, her partner of sixty-seven
years. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her
four children; Ulrike (Warren) Long, Hans O. (Wendy) Klohn, Frauke
(Vaughn) Smith and Peter (Sharon) Klohn. She was predeceased
by her only sister, Elke Schwarz of Kiel, Germany.
Anke’s legacy can be found in her four
children, eight grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren as well
as the example set by the extraordinary love story that was her
marriage. She was a devoted mother and friend and cared
quietly and selflessly for those in need of assistance and
compassion. Preserving the traditions of her native Germany,
Anke enjoyed coffee and cake (torte) in the afternoon, a European
Christmas, classical music and the fellowship offered by the Lutheran
Church. She supported the efforts of others who had
emigrated to Canada and understood the challenges faced by newcomers.
Although a very private person, she had a smile and a kind word for
everyone she met. She will be sadly missed by her very dear
friend, Jeanette Rathjens.
In her latter days, Anke’s life was made
brighter and easier by the caring presence of Mary Rose Dewar, Ann
Spencer, Debbie Arsenault, Cari Hachey, Janet Flecknell, Evelyn Carey,
Patricia Creelman and Keven Murphy. The family wishes to
extend its thanks to these important people and to the staff of the
PCU at the Regional Hospital for their compassionate
care.
In accordance with the wishes of the family, there
will be no visitation and a private memorial service will be held
overlooking the Saint John River. Arrangements are under the
care of Brenan Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row,
Saint John (634-7424).
For those who wish,
memorial donations to the Saint John Regional Hospital or the
charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the
family although extra time spent with a loved one would also be a
fitting remembrance.

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Anke C Klohn 19272018.source
