It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of Fritz Glessman, after a long battle with illness, on Wednesday November 28 2018 at the age of 84. Predeceased by brothers Gus, John, Ewalt and sister Otillie. He leaves behind his loving and doting wife of 57 years, Teresa(nee Vannier), brother Rudy (Marie) Glessman of Barrhead, daughter Cheryl (Greg) Hughes, of Calgary, son David (Tina) Glessman, of Peachland, and grandaughter Alysha, along with many other extended family members.
Fritz was born August 29 1934, and raised just outside of Mellowdale Alberta. In his twenties, he made the move to Clearwater BC and worked alongside his brother Ewalt, before moving to Vancouver and meeting the love of his life, Teresa. Eventually moving to Kelowna in 1972.
Over the years Fritz worked for many different trucking outfits, and even had his own company for some time in Kelowna.
He had a way with words and was always looking to get some laughs, even if it was at his own expense. How can you put into words a truly indescribable man. Anyone who knew him got the chance to experience how truly genuine he was.
The family would like to thank the staff at Kelowna General Hospital for all the kindness and care they provided to Fritz in the last few years. In lieu of flowers, we ask instead you make a donation to find a cure for Shy-Drager Syndrome, also known as Multiple System Atrophy (M.S.A). The funeral will be held Friday December 7 2018, 1:00pm, at Valleyview Funeral Home located at 165 Valleyview Road, Kelowna. Tea and coffee to follow at the Elks Lodge at approximately 4:00pm, located at 1923 Kent Road.
As I sit here writing this on behalf of my “gramps” I cannot believe how blessed I am to have had such a wonderful person in my life and the loss is truly heartbreaking. Though I am extremely distraught, I know he is no longer suffering, and he is finally at peace.
I love you Grandpa, honk ’em.
