It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our Father, Husband, Papa, and Uncle, at the age of 73 years. He leaves to mourn his wife Jennifer Patrick, Children; Dorothy (Art) Williams, Gerald (Leeann) Patrick, Vanessa (Danny) Patrick. lla (Darcy) Patrick, Misty (Tim) Patrick and Donny Patrick. Grandchildren; Jessica, Justin, TyreIl, Cage, Jade, Amby, Amber, Vince, Rikkita, Laura, Leon, Michael, Shelby and Janie. Great Grandchildren; Faylee, Thierry, Liberty, and Zendaya.
Pre-deceased by his ex-wife Melvina; his sister Alma Sinclair; Parents Gerard and Betsy Patrick; Uncle Hughie Robertson, Aunts, Pat King, lla Graham, and Agnes Still; Great grandchild Peyton Patrick, and Nephews Bryden Sinclair, Dennis Sinclair, and Gerd Nabess.
Alex was born in Berens River, Manitoba. He was a jack of all trades, fisherman, Heavy Equipment Operator, Mechanic, Welder, Owner/Operator of his own garage business. He also worked for Hugh Munroe Construction, Berens River First Nation. He graduated from Assiniboine residential school in 1959 and also obtained a certificate fort trades. He also earned his Captain certificate in BC then became captain of his own vessel he named “Jessica Reed” after his two eldest granddaughters.
He was a family man who cherished and enjoyed his time with the grandchildren. He taught his son Buddy, the knowledge and teachings from his father on how to be a fisherman. He also taught his nephew Alistair (Juggie) how to trap and hunt from a young age. He also leaves his youngest son, Donny to carry on his legacy and wisdom of the world as he knew it. He loved watching Old westerns and idolized John Wayne & Clint Eastwood. He loved sharing his old country music from legends like Don Williams and Merle Haggard. He was well loved by many friends from back home whom he shared many stories about and shared many memories. In his older age, following retirement, he turned his passion to no other than the Winnipeg Jets. He was a devoted fan and never missed a game. The first game he missed was when he was admitted into the hospital, marking the last two weeks of his life here on earth. Alex was diagnosed with cancer, but he continued to watch his favorite hockey team till the end. So, rest in peace Papa till we meet again. Love forever, your family.
We would like to thank the staff at the Health Science Centre and Riverview Health Center for all their care and assistance. Wake service will be held on Friday, January 19, 2018 from 7:00 p.m. -12 midnight at the Eternal Grace Funerals 1111 Logan Ave. Wpg. Mb. Wake services will also be held in Berens River Manitoba at the Roman Catholic Church on January 20th / 21st from 7:00 p.m-12:00 a.m. Funeral will be held on Monday January 22, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of The Snow Catholic Church with Fr. Anthony Samy officiating. Burial to follow at the Berens River Cemetery. The family would like to thank everyone for their support and prayers.
