Wayne’s Obituary
LINACY – Wayne Michael Fraser, 75, Linacy, passed away Tuesday, October 2, 2018 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow.
Born in New Glasgow, he was a son of the late Michael Francis and Grace Christena (MacEachern) Fraser. Wayne served with the Royal Canadian Air Force from 1963-1968 where he took certification in refrigeration. Upon discharge, he worked for several companies before opening Wayne’s Refrigeration in 1975, which he operated until retirement in 2013 due to ill health. He was an avid fastball and hockey enthusiast, having played and coached for many years. Wayne always joked about “his glory days”, however, to this family, it was his compassion and care for the players he coached that will be his enduring legacy.
Surviving are his wife of 49 years, Shirley Elaine (Browning) Fraser; children, Tena (Richard) Cook, Little Harbour Road; Adele (Matthew) Redmond, Grande Prairie, Alta.; Michael (Angela Clermont) Fraser, Ottawa; Dana (Kevin) Nokes, Grimsby, Ont.; Kendall Fraser, Dartmouth; grandchildren, Nick, Ryan, Nathan, Riley, Graham, Evelyn, Jacob, Conner and Emilie; sisters, Evelyn (Gerry) Doucette, Waterloo, Ont.; Carlene (George) Hughes, New Glasgow; Patsy MacDonald, Stellarton; many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive visitors 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, October 4th in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow. A private service will be held. Interment will be in French River Cemetery.
Donations may be made in Wayne’s memory to an organization that helps kids in sports.
