Forever in Our Hearts
Bill passed away peacefully on a special day Saturday, November 11, 2017, 19 days short of his 96th birthday with his son Brian at his side.
Bill was predeceased by his wife Lorraine in 1997; parents John and Mary; brothers Frank and Tony; and sisters-in-law Sophie and Dorothy.
Bill is lovingly remembered by his sister Rose; sons Les (Charlene), Gary (Polly) and Brian (Marilyn); grandchildren Trena (Peter), Serena (Brad), Lori (James), Trista (Herb), Tyler (Jennifer), Chandra (Cody), Jason (Justine); and great-grandchildren Robyn, Emma, Olivia, Aaliyah, Ember, Hunter, Jackson, Maisyn, Emmett and Haize; as well as nieces and nephews.
Bill worked in the hotel industry for many years and was the manager of the Ehrle Hotel for 35 years until his retirement on January 31, 1986 at the age of 65.
After his retirement, Bill and Lorraine divided their time between their home in Regina and their cottage at Strasbourg Beach now known as Island View Resort.
After Lorraine’s passing on June 21, 1997, Bill was content spending time in his garden in Regina and sold his cottage to his youngest son Brian.
Bill was a WWII Veteran who served over seas. In the last two years of his life he was lovingly cared for on the Veterans Unit 3-5 at the Wascana Rehabilitation Centre.
He always had a smile on his face whenever someone from his “new family” would stop and talk to him for a minute.
The family would like to send a very special thank you to the wonderful staff on Unit 3-5, the Recreation Therapists and the lovely ladies from the Red Cross that run the veterans craft room.
A FUNERAL SERVICE will be held at Regina Funeral Home and Cemetery, 4001 East Victoria Avenue, Regina, SK on Monday, November 20, 2017 at 2:00 p.m.
