WILLIAM (BILL) EDWIN ARNOLD
April 10, 1950 – January 12, 2017
Peacefully at Grace Hospital, Bill Arnold passed away at the age of 66 years.
Bill was predeceased by parents George and Evelyn Arnold, sister Iris, brother Gilbert, in-laws Dick and Jessie Cain and brother-in-law Joey Cain.
Leaving to mourn his passing is his wife of 45 years Ruth (nee Cain); his children Carrie (Steve), Jaret (Kirby) and loving grandchildren Kyra and Hunter.
Survived by sister June Price, brother George Arnold (Ruth), brothers-in-law Art (Holly), Rick (Shelly), sisters-in-law Janet (Ernie), Cathy (Clayton), numerous nieces and nephews, chosen children Terry Chartier (Sharon), Cheryl Condello (Anthony) as well as friends and extended family.
Bill was born in Winnipeg and lived in Ashern before moving to Gimli, MB at the age of 2.
He attended elementary and high school in Gimli and Red River Community College in Winnipeg. He met his future wife in high school and they were married in April 1971 and moved to Clandeboye MB to raise their family. Bill had a variety of work experiences and after the closing of Saunders Aircraft in 1976 he began his life time career as a cabinet and custom furniture maker and instructor. In the last five years of his career he was employed by CorCan as a woodworking instructor at the Stoney Mountain Penitentiary.
From 1991 to 1994 he was a member of the Selkirk Hand Gun Club and took great pride in his marksmanship skills. In his spare time he enjoyed golf, fishing, camping and restoring classic cars. After retirement he started his own business and built and installed custom kitchen cabinets. Many friends and family members benefited from his woodworking skills.
Special thanks to the EMS and the Medical staff at Selkirk General Hospital. Also thanks to the Dr and nurses of the Grace Hospital ICU. Donations may be made to a charity of your choice. Cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held at a later date.
