He was predeceased by his parents Joseph Nordick (1963) and Mary (Popadynec) Nordick Petruic (2000); step-father Elmer Petruic (1988); sister Joan Nordick (2001); and nephew Gary Hilderman (1990). Left to cherish his memory are his wife Veronica and son Gregory Nordick of Regina, SK; daughters Karie-Lynn (Brent) Marcotte of Simi Valley, California; Staci-Lynn (fiancé Jayson Kinchen) Banin of Kipling, SK; sister Gwen (Ron) Carey of Regina, SK; brother Ernest Nordick of Weyburn, SK; seven grandchildren, Keely, Haylee, Zachary, Kyra, Caden, Griffin and Finley; as well as numerous extended family members and many friends. Wilf was born on August 31, 1947 in Wynyard, SK and spent his early life in Wynyard and Nipawin, SK. At the age of 10, the family relocated to Regina. At the young age of 15, Wilf’s father passed away and while Wilf continued with his school studies during the day, he worked at the Leader-Post during the night to provide financial assistance to his mother and younger siblings. Wilf graduated from Balfour Collegiate in 1966 and in 1969, he married June-Marie Donison. It was the same year that Elmer Petruic became his step-father. Wilf and June-Marie were blessed with two daughters Karie-Lynn in 1971 and Staci-Lynn in 1975. Wilf’s career was primarily with the federal public service. When he worked for the Department of Regional Economic Expansion, he had the opportunity to live in Whitehorse, Yukon, moving to Cranbrook, BC. and returning home to Saskatchewan when he commenced employment with Indian and Northern Affairs Canada in 1985. In 1993, he married the love of his life Veronica and together they were blessed with a son Gregory in 1995. When cardiac illness prevented Wilf from working, he retired from his position of Regional Environment Manager in 2010. Wilf enjoyed traveling and loved to take his family and motor home to various destinations in North America. Wilf was a former member of the Knights of Columbus and in 1990 was elected for a two year term as 3rd degree Grand Knight. He was also a long time member of the Royal Canadian Legion. Wilf was a sports enthusiast especially in football cheering on the Saskatchewan Roughriders through good times and bad times and of course, his beloved New Orleans Saints. He enjoyed hockey and was a huge fan of the Vancouver Canucks. He played baseball in his teenage years and coached his daughters’ softball team in Cranbrook. Wilf also enjoyed curling and playing golf prior to his illness. He was an avid country and western music fan and he would often listen to CD’s and videos performed by his favorite artists. A special thank you to Dr. Dickson, and Dr. Aboguddah who were entrusted to Wilf’s care for 15 years and most recently Dr. Sultan and Dr. Gebhardt of the cardiac unit in the Regina General Hospital. A CELEBRATION OF LIFE will take place in early spring. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Saskatchewan, 279 3rd Avenue North, Saskatoon, SK S7K 2H8. Arrangements entrusted to Regina Funeral Home (306) 789-8850.
