Barry, Wendy Gay (nee Gzowski)
passed away on May 27, 2017 in Victoria, BC after a short but mighty battle with cancer. She was 74 years old and lived each of those years to the fullest. She was the daughter of Joy and Casimir Gzowski and sister to Dawn Oxley (nee Gzowski), amazing mother to Nicola and Timothy Barry and devoted Grandma to Kate and Lucy Hayhurst. Wendy had many adventures in her life including teaching in a one-room school house in northern BC, earning a black belt in Judo, competing and winning in many a badminton tournament, running a successful preschool, owning a Kumon franchise and teaching elementary school for many years. She was an active member of each community she lived in and was immensely enjoying her retirement in Victoria, BC after raising her children in Orillia, ON. Wendy was an avid traveler and has said that she retired early to travel because « work was interfering in her social life ». Wendy will be missed and remembered by many. Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 25, 2017 from 1-3pm at Mundell Funeral Home, 79 West St. N., Orillia. A celebration of life service will immediately follow at 3pm.
