Born in Vineland, Ontario to Merle and Mae Fretz (predeceased). Bud married his beloved Mary (Montague) in 1943 and they were only ever apart during WWII, while he served honorably in England, France, Holland and Germany. Bud moved his young family to Timmins after the war where he worked as a miner at the Hollinger Mine and then at Kidd Creek until retiring in 1985. Bud loved his family, his Church, nature, and working in his vegetable garden at the cottage. He is survived by his wife Mary, and six daughters; Judy (Ian) Robertson, Marion Fretz, Patricia (Les) Doey, Lynda (Keith) Collins, Margaret (Randy) Orr, Janice (Kareem) Kadhim, 18 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. He also leaves behind many relatives and friends who were an integral part of his life. He was predeceased by his brothers Elroy, Lorne, and Robert and by his sisters Marguerite and Ruth. The family would also like to take this opportunity to thank the Doctors and nursing staff at Timmins and District Hospital for the compassion and care they provided during his stay at the hospital. Remembrance donations to the Timmins and District Hospital or to Covenant United Church would be greatly appreciated. Cremation has taken place as he wished. Funeral service will be held on Thursday June 9, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Covenant United Church followed by a reception at the church. Funeral and cremations services have been entrusted with LESSARD-STEPHENS FUNERAL HOME. Remembrance donations to the Timmins and District Hospital or to Covenant United Church would be greatly appreciated.
