Verna Marie Latta
1939-2017
With heavy hearts, the family of Verna Latta
announce her passing on Sunday, September 10, 2017 at the Saint John
Regional Hospital. Born December 9, 1939 in Saint John, she was a
daughter of the late Willard and Mabel Alice (Neaves) (Sabean)
(McLellan) Wilkins.
Verna had the true spirit of a mother- she was
so very kind with a gentle soul who lived her life doing so much for
those she loved. Many trips were made to visit family, when she was
able to do so, and she loved to share her beautiful voice with others,
always harmonizing. An avid BINGO player, she was the secretary of her
residence’s BINGO club for a few years. She knitted for
everyone’s new babies, and she enjoyed square dancing in her
younger years. She will be so missed.
Verna is survived by her son, Myron; daughters:
Susan, Alexia, Alicia Eakin (John), Pauline Mitchell (Norval), and
Virginia Neily; 19 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 2
great-great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters: Fred Sabean, Wesley
McLellan, Lois Mahaney, Ricky McLellan, Jean McLellan, Marney Foote
(Paul), Louis McLellan (Mary), Kim McLellan (Dorothy), and Lance
McLellan; and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was
predeceased by her son, William; and her sister, Beulah
Roy.
Resting at Brenan’s
Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424),
with visiting on Thursday, September 14, 2017 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8
pm. A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 15, 2017 at 2
pm from Brenan’s Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow
in Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery. Remembrances to the Heart and Stroke
Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
