Vaughn « Jack » John Lewis Steeves
1927-2017
It is with great sadness the family announces the peaceful
passing of Vaughn « Jack » Steeves at Forest Dale Nursing
Home, Riverside Albert.
Jack was born on the family farm in Edgetts Landing to the
late Myrtle Viola (Simpson) and James William Steeves. He was the
youngest son of ten children. Jack worked many hours on the family
farm after putting in a full day at his position as assistant manager
at Commercial Equipment in Moncton. His love of horse races lead him
to a part-time position at the Dieppe Raceway with Agriculture Canada.
Jack was also recognized in the Blue Book of harness racing as a race
horse breeder in 1972. His fondest accomplishment in the area was
raising a foal that later won the Gold Cup and Saucer in
Charlottetown, PEI.
Jack loved his family and particular the times in younger
years when he would have « sing alongs » with his brothers and
sisters at Uncle George’s farm. They loved to sing the old
hymns with his favorite being How Great Thou Art.
Jack will be deeply missed by his wife Ruth of 65 years; two
daughters, Cathie (Greg) Smith, Wendy (Brian) Paige, and one son,
James, all of Hillsborough. His grandchildren Shawn (Tracey) Smith,
Jeremy Smith, Megan (Steven) Shannahan, and Cory (Jenna) Power and
five great-grandchildren.
By his request there will be no visitation or funeral
service. The interment will take place in Green Hill Cemetery at a
later date.
Dad will always be remembered by his parting words,
« Grampy Loves Ya! ».

Jack’s love of animals to the SPCA.
The funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care of
Cobb’s Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 330 Whitepine Rd.,
