V. Darlene Thompson
1927-2017
It is with sadness that we announce the
passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother,
Verna Darlene Thompson, 90, of Mapleton,
NS, at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre on Thursday,
December 28, 2017. Born in Southampton, NS, Darlene was a
daughter of the late Calvin and Bertha (Trowsdale)
Siddall.
Darlene married the love of her life,
Garnet Thompson, and they lived happily together for fifty-seven
years. Darlene enjoyed music, singing, lexicons, crosswords and
ceramics. She was a member of the Pythian Sisters and the
UCW for the Mapleton United Church. Darlene was a caring and
devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother who adored her time
with her family.
She will be sadly missed by her
daughter, Dianne (late Carl) Brown, Sheet Harbour, NS and her
children, Carla Lane, Mark Brown, Tanya Smiley, son, Randy
(Jennifer Hoffman) Thompson and their children Ben and Maren, Rocky
Harbour, NL, son Bob (Mary Dee) Thompson and their daughter Kate, Cold
Lake, AB; seven great grandchildren, as well as many nieces and
nephews.
Darlene was the last surviving member of
her generation of the Siddall family. Besides her parents,
she was predeceased by her husband, Garnet; her siblings, Frank,
Elmer, Elsie, Leota (Oatie), Annie, and Edna, and their
spouses.
Arrangements are under the care and
guidance of A.H. Brown Funeral
Home, 5 McFarlane Street,
Springhill. A time of visitation will be held from the
funeral home on Wednesday, January, 3, 2018 from 6-8 pm with a service
at the funeral home on Thursday at 2 pm. Rev. Elizabeth
Davies officiating.
Donations in memory of Darlene may be
made to the Canadian Kidney Foundation or a charity of the donor’s
choice.
