MacAskill, Una Mary (Pilgrim) of Bedford passed away in her 95 year on August 8, 2016 at Camp Hill Veterans Memorial Building, Halifax. Born in St. Anthony Bight, Newfoundland, she was the daughter of the late Elihu and Emmilene (Denny) Pilgrim. She is survived by her husband of 70 years, Anthony “Tony” whom she married in the Cathedral, Military Rd., St. John’s Newfoundland in June, 1946; brother, Maitland Pilgrim and will also be lovingly remembered by many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by sisters, Charlotte ”Lottie” Windsor, Hazel Hillier, Effie Cooper, Lucristia “Lulu” Barrett, Ethel Mews and brother, Lewis Pilgrim. Una was a veteran of World War II having served with The Canadian Women’s Army Corps (CWAC) in Canada and Washington, DC. In her younger years she was an active member of the Catholic Women’s League (CWL) of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church where she served two terms as treasure. Most recently she was a member of Saint Benedict Parish. Visitation will take place 2-4, 6-8 pm Thursday, August 11 in Atlantic Funeral Home, 6552 Bayers Rd., Halifax from where a funeral service will be held 2 pm Friday, August 12 with burial to follow in the Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lower Sackville.
