Thelma J. Corney
1946-2017
Miramichi – Thelma Jean Corney, wife of F.B. “John” Corney, of Miramichi, passed away at the Miramichi Regional Hospital on Friday, November 10, 2017, at the age of 71.
Born in Chatham, on September 24, 1946, she was the daughter of the late Ernest B.W. and Nettie J. (Dickson) Flieger. She was a retired 36 year employee of Service New Brunswick and following her retirement she was an office staff member for the former MP Tilly O’Neill Gordon.
Thelma was a dedicated member of St. Pauls Anglican Church; a 30 plus year member of the church choir; a 35 plus year member of the A.C.W., as well as former secretary of the A.C.W.
She is survived by her husband, John Corney; one daughter, Jill Johnston (Jeff), of Miramichi; two sisters, Isabell Pleadwell (Ivan) and Elizabeth (Libby) Flieger, of Miramichi; one brother Kenneth Flieger (Lolly) of Bryenton; one sister in law, Kathy Flieger, of Miramichi; as well as several nieces and nephews and several great nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; one brother Wilson Flieger.
Visitation will be at Adams Funeral Home Ltd., 140 King St., Miramichi, on Sunday evening, from 7-9 pm and Monday, from 2-4 & 7-9 pm. Funeral service will be held from St. Pauls Anglican Church, Miramichi, on Tuesday, November 14, 2017, at 11 am, conducted by Rev. Perry Cooper. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery, Miramichi.
