Obituary Overview
Forever In Our Hearts
Thavone Senevonghachack passed away on Saturday, November 4, 2017 at the age of 74 years.
Thavone was born on May 6, 1943 in the Province of Vientiane, Laos. She was the youngest girl in the family and had two sisters and a brother.
In 1964 Thavone met her late husband Oudone Senevonghachack and they married in 1968. They were blessed with three daughters.
After surviving a communist’s training camp, Thavone left Laos and joined her husband in a Thailand refugee camp. In 1980, the Steinbach High School in Manitoba raised funds to sponsor the family to Canada. After living in Steinbach for two years, the family moved to Drake and lived there for about one year.
In 1984 Thavone and her family moved to Regina.
Oudone quietly left this world on January 20, 1998. Thavone had to take charge of the family, working hard to raise three daughters on her own while facing many hardships in life.
In 2014 Thavone was diagnosed with lung cancer and went into remission for about one year.
In 2016 she was diagnosed with a brain tumor and never recovered fully after her surgery. The brain tumor and lung cancer returned a few months later and Thavone courageously fought for almost eight months (at home with the support of her three daughters and the Palliative Home Care services) before she joined her Lord Jesus Christ. Thavone left this world surrounded by the love of her children, other family members and friends.
Thavone was a member of Grace Mennonite Church and was baptized in Regina.
She will be fondly missed and remembered for her love of travel, strength, cooking skills, volunteer work, caregiving attitude, and love for her family especially her children and grandchildren.
Thavone was predeceased by her husband Oudone Senevonghachack; and her grandson Nicholas Phongsavath.
Thavone is survived and will be sadly missed by her daughters and their husbands: Oudalone Senevonghachack, Oudalay and Bounport Bouphaphanh and Oudaly and Phyvanh Malaythong; grandchildren Austone and Angelina Phongsavath, Ashley and Taylor Malaythong and Christabella Bouphaphanh; nephews Daongeun Siharath, Sone Ounkham, and Song Ounkham and their family members; and her close friends.
The family of Thavone wishes to extend a special thank you to other family members and friends for their support.
A VISITATION will be held on Saturday, November 11, 2017 at Grace Mennonite Church 2935 Pasqua Street, Regina, SK at 10:00 a.m. followed by a MEMORIAL SERVICE and RECEPTION at 11:00 a.m.
