Stillman Fleet

Stillman Fleet 1949-2016 Mr. Stillman Merton Fleet of North Head Grand Manan Island passed away at his residence on Thursday February 18, 2016. He was born the son of the late Harvey and Ethel (Joy) Fleet. Following graduating from Grand Manan High School Stillman went to study Accounting Arts at Holland College in PEI. After finishing his studies he worked for a few years at several jobs on PEI in his professional field. He moved back to Grand Manan Island and worked for Connors Bros. in administration, later he worked for the Department of Fisheries and Oceans. Stillman was always concerned with community issues, helping people file income tax returns, and enjoyed playing Santa Claus for children at the Christmas Market, and social times with his neighbors at Rotary Isle Etates. He is survived by three sisters; Lorraine Harvey, Dianne Ashfield (Allen), Cynthia Fleet, and Faye Guptill (Roger) all of Grand Manan. One brother Gerry Fleet (Sheila) of Maces Bay. Many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased by one brother Sydney Joy. There will be visiting for friends and family at St. Paul’s Anglican Church Hall on Saturday February 20th from 7-9 pm and Sunday February 21st from 2-4 pm. A graveside service will take place Saturday April 30, 2016 at 1:00 PM with Rev. Peter Smith officiating. There will be a reception following the graveside service at the Seal Cove Baptist Church and all are welcome and invited to join the family for a time of fellwoship and reflection.
