Obituary On January 22, 2015, at Providence Centre in Edmonton, Sister Mary Teresa Leindecker, a Sister of the Precious Blood quietly and peacefully gave her soul back to God. Sister’s earthly pilgrimage was completed in her 104th year of her life and the 85th of her Religious Profession. Sister Mary Teresa is the last remaining member of her immediate family. She was predeceased by her parents, Anthony and Freda (Pursky) Leindecker and her sister, Margaret Hornby. Left to mourn her passing are several nieces and nephews as well as many Precious Blood Sisters across our country. Many friends, especially in the Edmonton area, will also lovingly remember Sister Mary Teresa. We wish to thank the Sisters of Providence for their kind and gracious care of Sister in her last years after the Edmonton monastery closed. They received her into their infirmary and attended to her as their own. Sister was born in Clyde, Alberta in 1911 and entered the Sisters of the Precious Blood in Edmonton in 1928, just three years after the community was founded there. Sister spent her entire Religious life in Edmonton serving the community in many capacities but particularly as Treasurer. We remember Sister Mary Teresa for many things but most especially for her spirit of prayer and her gracious hospitality to all she met either within or the outside the monastery. Visitation will be held at Providence Centre, 3005 – 119 Street NW Edmonton, on Wednesday, January 28, 2015 from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. with a Prayer Vigil to begin at 6:30 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Providence Centre on Thursday, January 29 at 9:00 a.m. Interment to follow in St. Joachim’s Cemetery, Edmonton.
