BEIRNE, Simonne
On Wednesday, October 4, 2017, Simonne Beirne (nee Cyr) peacefully moved on to the next life in the presence of her children after a brief battle at the Odette Cancer Center. Memere was the rock of the Beirne family since the unexpected passing of her husband Patrick (Paddy) in 1994.
Simonne was born December 30, 1930. Daughter of Robert Polycarp Cyr and Catherine Nadeau of St. Leonard, New Brunswick. Sister of Florence (Flo), Constance (Connie), Robertine (Bobby) and Catherine (Titine).
Best Mom in the whole world to her 7 boys and 1 girl, Patrick (Nora), Michael (Lorna), Daniel (Andrea), Garry (Anne), John, Catherine , Brian (Katherine), and Paul (Anne Marie). Simonne is also survived by 16 granchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
Simonne was devoted to the Catholic Church and generous in support of many charities from driving cancer patients to their appointments to cooking food trays for the Good Shepherd Refuge.
Events with a large guest list were the norm with a family of this size, and Simonne was a most gracious host. Her memory and story-telling skills were always entertaining and made her a favorite of the grandchildren.
A short stroll around her condo reveals the fact that, not only is her family quite large, but that Simonne had many, many dear friends.
She will miss her many snowbird friends and the morning pool routine of Destin, Florida. Friends will be received at HERITAGE FUNERAL CENTRE 50 Overlea Blvd., 416-423-1000 on Friday, October 6 from 2-4 p.m. & 6-9 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday, October 7 at 11 a.m. at ST. BONAVENTURE PARISH 1300 Leslie Street, Toronto. Cremation has taken place. A private family interment will take place at a later date.
