Shirley Louise Hersey
1942-2016
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Shirley Louise
Hersey, loving wife of Fred Hersey (56 years), announces her passing,
which occurred at Bobby’s Hospice on November 6,
2016. Born in Hibernia, NB on September14, 1942 she was a
daughter of the late Lloyd and Flora (McTauge) Shanks.
Shirley loved spending time with her family and friends and
will be sadly missed by all who knew her. Her grandchildren
were her pride and joy and she took every opportunity to spend time
with them. Shirley worked for many years for Irving Pulp and
Paper in the payroll department.
Shirley is survived by her sons: David Hersey and Jeffery
(Patricia) Hersey; daughter, Jennifer (Jonathan) Prescott;
grandchildren, Benjamin, Stephanie, Brittany, Erica, Leandra and
Nicholas. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews,
cousins and extended family.
Besides her parents Shirley is predeceased by her son
Derrick.
The family would like to recognize Harold Shanks, Norval
Butland, Jonathan Prescott, Benjamin Paulin, Mark Hersey, Dale Needle
as Honourary Pallbearers. They would also like to thank
Bobby’s Hospice for the support offered by the staff and
volunteers during this difficult time. For those who wish,
in lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Bobby’s
Hospice in Mom’s
memory.
Resting at Brenan’s Funeral
Home, 1461 Manawagonish Road, Saint John (634-7425) As
per Shirley’s wishes there will be no public
visitation. The family will hold a private interment at
Cedar Hill Cemetery at a later date.
