ETHERINGTON, Rose Matilda nee Zeigler Passed away peacefully, aged 86 years, early Sunday morning, June 12, 2016 at Albright Manor Long Term Care Home in Beamsville. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Orval Arthur Etherington, November 10, 2007. Rose was born on November 25, 1929 just outside of Scott, Saskatchewan to Frank and Pauline (Kuntz) Zeigler, the oldest of 12 children. Rose moved with her family in two cars to Ontario for a better future. She helped to support her siblings by working at the Grimsby Basket Factory at the young age of 14. On July 1st, 1950, beautiful Rose married the handsome Orval and began her life as a farmer’s wife on the old Bingle dairy farm on Wolverton Road. Later, Rose supported Orval in his successful business, Etherington Farm Equipment. Rose was always a hard worker, an accomplished cook and a loving mother. She enjoyed her long career as a professional school bus driver. Rose spent her leisure time, sewing, painting, quilting, bowling, gardening, reading; playing golf and watching the Blue Jays play baseball. She felt joy when her grand and great grandchildren would come to visit. She learned to love all her children’s pet mini Schnauzer dogs. Fortunately, Rose and Orval travelled parts of the world and spent many holidays in sunny Florida. Left to honour and remember her love are Rose’s four children, Donna (Ray) Funnell, Brian (Liza) Etherington, Carol (Jim) Irwin, and Brenda (Dave) Dawson; 6 grand children, Holly, James, Matthew, Cassandra, Clayton and Emily; 5 great grandchildren, Madelyn, Reily, Rowan, Ridley, and Rachel. Rose is survived by several brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews. The family will greet friends and extended family at STONEHOUSE-WHITCOMB FUNERAL HOME, 11 Mountain Street, GRIMSBY (905-945-2755) on Tuesday from 3-5 and 7-9p.m. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 15, 2016 at 10:30a.m. Interment Grimsby Mountain Cemetery. The Etherington Family would like to extend our gratitude to all the staff at Albright Manor in Beamsville, specifically Audrey, Kiflu, and Brandy for their loving care. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Rose to Albright Manor would be greatly appreciated. www.smithsfh.com Mom, Rose, Grandma, we will always carry your memory in our hearts. ‘We will love you. We will love you always.’
