Obituary
Ron Petesky passed away March 17, 2017, at the age of 77.
Ron was born in the small town of Myrnam, Alberta. Ron grew up in the Bonnyville area where he met and married his sweetheart Josephine. He worked at Bert’s TV Repair Shop in Bonnyville for about ten years. Ron and Jo moved to Sherwood Park in 1967. He taught electronics and math at Victoria Composite High School in Edmonton for many years. He will be remembered for building a tractor called “Ron’s Big Beast Snortin’ Norton” with his students. Ron spent the last several years of his career teaching grade six in Devon, Alberta.
Ron enjoyed socializing and entertaining others. He was often laughing and joking with people he just met. Ron was very active in his community throughout his life. Ron sang in the choir and was a member of the Board at the Devon United Church. He was also a member of the Devon Lion’s Club. Ron was a regular at the Devon Golf and Curling Club. He loved to spend his summers on the fairway and his winters in the curling rink. In retirement, Ron enjoyed fishing the many lakes in Alberta.
Ron is survived by Josephine Petesky; his three children, Ruth, Dan and Andrew; and his four grandchildren, Bronte, Austin, Jennifer and Kimberly. Ron will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by family and friends. To honor his life, contributions may be made to The Canadian Cancer Society, the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada or CapitalCare Norwood Hospice.
