McGugan, Ronald Henry (Pa)
Ron passed away quietly in his 97th year with his wife Joyce and his family by his side, on September 25/2017.
Ron was the eldest son of Dugald and Christine (Peebles) McGugan, and was recently predeceased by his two loving younger brothers Norman and Donald. Ron is tenderly remembered by his two sister’s in-law, Marion and Esther.
Ron leaves behind his devoted wife Joyce of 72 years, affectionately referred to as “His Bride”. Also he leaves behind his children, Norma Teigen (Norman), Douglas McGugan (Linda) and Patricia Morin.
Ron was devoted grandfather to his grandchildren , Rob, Robin, Lori, Michael, Cheryl, David and Patrick and his great grandchildren Jay, Al, Justy, Devon, Koral, Adam, Madison, Aaron, Colby, Jeremy, Ryan, Nicholas, Zachary, Matthew, Shaina and Lennox who all loved and cherished him.
Ron was born in Lobo (London, Ontario) moving to Northern Ontario as a young boy during the depression with his family. They settled in Hough Lake (Charlton).
Ron enlisted in the Canadian Army and was overseas during World War II where he met and married the love of his life – his bride – Joyce, who has meant the world to him from the first day they met.
Ron worked at the family sawmill in Charlton & Long Lake then went on to become a mechanic with a Diamond Drilling Operation. He was soon to become a world traveller, working in many different countries from the high Artic to South Africa, the Sudan and many provinces throughout Canada. Ron was happiest when Joyce could travel with him – especially the times they lived in South Africa, Montana and a short stint in the Sudan.
Ron was always a family man, through and through. He would stop at nothing to provide for his family. His homes on Sesekinika Lake and Kenogami Lake were a testament to his love for providing country living for his family and his love for gardening & the many years of growing flowers alongside his bride. He loved his music, sitting listening outside his workshop, and family times were of the utmost importance. Ron was a proud member of the Royal Canadian Legion for over 60 years.
He will be greatly missed by those who loved and respected the great man he was.
Our heartfelt thanks are extended to all the staff at Teck Pioneer Residence, who has shown such compassion and devoted care not only for Ron but for his entire family during his time there.
