Rodney Grant Olson has returned to his heavenly home on July 18, 2016. He passed away surrounded by his loving family. After a long and courageous battle with cancer, other health issues and struggles, he is no longer suffering and we are all at peace knowing that he accepted Jesus into his heart. Rod was the fifth child born to Burnette and Arlene on September 7, 1966 in Swift Current Saskatchewan. He grew up in Swift Current until he and his best friend Layne moved to Moose Jaw to attend the Artistic Beauty College in 1985. After receiving his degree in hairdressing, he moved to North Battleford where he worked and lived for two years. After that he moved back home to Swift Current and built up his clientele until 1992 when he and Layne opened up their own salon, Details Professional Hair Design. Rod was a loyal member of Dooly’s pool club, he also enjoyed playing darts, music festivals, and being around his many friends. He especially loved his cats, which he has had many through his lifetime. Rod also had a certain wit and knack for storytelling. He had a huge heart and loved without judgement. He will be dearly missed by all who were fortunate enough to know and love him. He was predeceased by his grandparents, Benny and Alma Olson, Ole and Alvina Austring; and his brother, Lyle. Lovingly remembered by his parents, Burnette and Arlene (Austring) Olson; his sisters Donna Borstmayer, Beryl (Rod) Ljunggren, Nancy (Wes) Popoff, his brother Paul Olson and his long time friend and partner Layne Feil. He was a proud and loving uncle and will be remember fondly by Tara, Stacy, Krissy, Tyson, Jorrie, Dylan, Michael, Becky, Tanya, Shawna, Amanda and 17 great nieces and nephews. The Memorial Service was held Thursday, July 21, 2016 at 2:00 pm from St Olaf Lutheran Church with Pastor Linda Hall Officiating. The Life Tribute was presented by Tanya Hanson, Lori Fortin and Layne Feil. In Rod’s memory, memorial donation may be made to the Charity of the Donor’s Choice.
