Rodmond James Joseph Beaudry
January 24, 1937 – April 18, 2017
It is with sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Rod Beaudry, after a brief but courageous battle with cancer.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 57 years, Rose, and their children Christine (Blayne) Farebrother, and Jacqueline Smolarski; grandchildren Leigh, Jaron, Ryan, David (Burgundy), Colin, Sarah Farebrother; Cody (Deanndra), Samantha (Austin), Juelz Smolarski; great-grandchildren Colleen Farebrother and Jayce Farebrother; special people; Arlene and Gilbert, Mary and John, and Myron. Rod is survived by his sisters, Shirley, Gerry, and sister-in-law Louise, as well as cousins, and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was predeceased by his parents, Finlay and Edith; sisters Doreen (Clarence), Muriel (Joseph and Tom), his brother Orval; brothers-in-law Erle, Edgar, Robert; in-laws Charles and Germaine.
Rod had a life-long career with Manitoba Hydro working on the Winnipeg River system. Rod served on the Board of Directors of Manitoba Hydro for 18 years as a labour representative. Rod’s joys in life were his music, motorcycling, hunting, camping and travel, but most importantly his family. Rod loved engaging and stimulating conversations and he never shied away from voicing his opinion. He always had his family’s best interests at heart and never failed to be there in a time of need.
A special thank-you to the doctors and staff at Selkirk General Hospital and the Pine Falls Homecare Team for their care and compassion.
At Rod’s request, cremation has taken place and no formal service will be held. In his memory, if friends and family so desire, donations may be made to the Salvation Army or a charity of one’s choice.
“He has been taken into the arms of the Lord – Until we meet again”
