Obituary of Robert « Bob » Steffler
Passed away in his 90th year after a lengthy illness. Much loved husband of Joy Steffler (Buck) for the past 11 years. Loved father of Sharon (Tony) Brooks, Diane (Peter) Praass, and step-daughter Dixi (Gary) Robertson. Loving Papa to “The Three B’s”, Leanne (Anthony Schwander), Robbie (Ashley) and Melanie Brooks, Ryan (Candace), Nathan, and Derek Nielissen, and Dacia and Darren (Chrystal) Robertson. Great-Grandfather to Michael and Noah Schwander, Everly Brooks, Keegan and Camilla, Mya and Nash Nielissen. Brother of Irene Weatherhead, and Margaret (Nick) Naciuk. Brother-in-law of Bette McCarthy. Survived by several nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by his parents, Edward and Adeline (Arnold) Steffler, his brother Harold, and his wives Lois Schnurr (1977) and Shirley Giesler (2003).
Bob was a service manager at Len Schmidt Motors in Walkerton for 28 years. Through General Motors, over his career he was awarded numerous Service Master awards. He then worked as Fleet Manager at Weston Bakeries until his retirement in 1992. Bob’s hobbies were woodworking and bridge. He loved his summer home at Oliphant which he built himself, and enjoyed with his family. He enjoyed camping trips with his family in his younger years, and experienced the great outdoors to the Pacific and Atlantic Coasts. In his later years, he enjoyed trips to Monaco, Italy and Newfoundland, and spent several winters in Florida.
Friends are invited to share their memories of Bob with his family during visitation at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo, on Wednesday August 30, 2017 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Parish Prayers will be held at 8:45 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Lourdes RC Church, 173 Lourdes St., Waterloo on Thursday August 31, 2017 at 10:30 a.m., with Fa. Rafal Tomon as Celebrant. The reception will be held immediately following the mass in the Kuntz House of the Erb & Good Funeral Home. Interment to follow at Parkview Cemetery, Waterloo.
