1935 – 2017
Passed away at St. Mary’s General Hospital on Friday September 1, 2017 at the age of 82. Richard was the loving and devoted husband of 40 years to Margaret Ann (Marne) Putnam (nee) Mayberry. Dear brother of Robert Thomas Putnam, David Neilson Putnam and Michael Putnam (Janice). He will be remembered by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Earl & Margaret Putnam. When Richard was 21 years he went to London England and work for Lloyds of London, to learn the business of Insurance. Upon his return, he joined his father’s company Canada Health and Accident located in Waterloo. After 20 years Richard moved his career into real estate and was a dedicated and respected Real Estate Agent for 40 years in the Region. A longtime member of the Westmount Golf Club, The Waterloo Club and Richard was the first sales agent who became President of the K-W Real-estate Board. Richard’s passion was golf. He would arrange tournaments that took him and friends to Scotland, Ireland, Arizona and Myrtle Beach. 53 Years ago, Richard started a tournament that continues to go on in Southampton Ont.
Friends are invited to share their memories of Richard with his family during memorial visitation at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo, on Thursday September 7, 2017 from 5-8 p.m. A Memorial service will be held at Friday September 8, 2017 at 1 p.m. with Shirley Mitchell -Grumme officiating. Reception to follow in the Fireside Room of the funeral home. At Richard’s request, cremation has already taken place.
