It is with great sadness that the family of the late Richard Gallant announce his passing at the Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital in Stephenville on Tuesday December 19th, 2017 at the age of 94 years. He is predeceased by his wife Vita Gallant and children Sandra and Barbara along with his parents John and Elizabeth Gallant and 13 brothers and sisters. Leaving to celebrate his life his children: Elaine (Nick) Spracklin, Howard (Rose) Gallant, Brian (Bonnie) Gallant, Anne Marie Vallis, Ricky (Genevieve) Gallant, Kim (Doug) Benoit, Tara (Peter) Hall along with 18 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren. Visitation will take place on Wednesday from 7-9 and Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 from Russell’s Funeral Home in Stephenville. The funeral will take place on Friday December 22nd at 2P.M. from Maria Regina Parish in Port au Port. Interment will take place in the Roman Catholic Cemetery in Port au Port. In lieu of flowers donations to the Bay St. George Sick Children’s Foundation or to the Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital Foundation in Richard’s memory would be greatly appreciated. Richard served in England in the Second World War and was an active member in the Royal Canadian Legion and in the community. His love for family and friends will live thru his children and his stories will forever be in their hearts. The family would like to express great thanks to the special staff at Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital who made dad feel at home and truly special.
