Obituary
Fr. Romano passed away peacefully at the University of Alberta Hospital on August 14, 2017 at the age of 76 years. He was born in Italy near Verona. He did his high school studies in Trent and joined the Salesians in August 1958. He was assigned to the United States province where he did his college studies and three years of teaching. In 1965 he went to Rome to study theology at the Salesian University. He was ordained a priest on December 21, 1968.
Fr. Romano is survived by the members of his religious community, the Salesians of the province of St. Philip the Apostle, New Rochelle, NewYork; as well has his siblings, Angelo, Giacomo and Fr. Giuseppe, SDB (missionary in Brazil) and their families. He was predeceased by his parents and sister, Maria.
For those wishing to pay their respects, visitation will commence at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 20, 2017 at St. John Bosco Church, 13503 – 40 Street, Edmonton. Vigil Prayers will begin at 7:00 pm at the same location.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 2:00 pm on Monday, August 21, 2017 at St. Joseph’s Basilica, 10044 – 113 Street, Edmonton. Interment will be August 24, 2017 at Le Repos St. Francois d’Assise cemetery in Montreal.
Memorial donations to benefit the less fortunate may be made in Fr. Romano’s name c/o St. John Bosco Parish.
