Regina Blanche Andres
It is with sadness that we announce the
passing of Regina Blanche Andres, age 87,
of Amherst. Regina passed away at the East Cumberland Lodge,
Pugwash on Friday, December 15, 2017. Born in Maccan, NS,
she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Ethel (Whalen)
Regina moved to Amherst at a youthful
age where she attended St. Charles School. Graduating from
St. Charles Commercial School, she joined the Royal Canadian Air
Force, and was stationed in Ontario and Quebec.
When she returned to Amherst, she worked
at Household Finance and Amherst Central Trust. Regina later
moved to Montreal where she worked for fifteen years at the Arthur
Anderson Accounting Firm. After returning to Amherst, she
was also a secretary for the Amherst Wing Club, and a member of the
Hospital Auxiliary. She was a Eucharistic Minister, was on
the Parish Council, and worked on the Seniors Committee at St. Charles
Regina was an avid sports fan all of her
life. As a girl, she played basketball and was a member of
the Stella Maris Ladies Softball Team and in Montreal, she took great
pleasure in curling at the Heather Curling Club. Regina
loved speding time with her family and looked forward to the five
cousins’ yearly trip to PEI. She also enjoyed cooking in her
home and going out for meals with her cousins. She loved
music, dancing, and singing.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased
by her husband, Richard (Dick) Andres, a sister Veronica Gould, and
her nephew, Lee Gould.
She is survived by her brother, Curry
(Nellie) Gould; three nieces, Paula (Philip) Pedersen, Carla Gould,
and Janice (Al Schurman) Gould; sister-in-law, Barb Ralston;
stepchildren, Blair (Marcella) Andres annd Jane Andres, as well as
Regina’s arrangements have been
entrusted into the care of the Furlong~Jones Funeral
Home, 70 Church Street, Amherst (902-667-8777) from
where visitation will be held 2-4 and 6-8 pm on Sunday,
December 17, 2017. Funeral mass will be celebrated from Holy
Family Parish Church, Amherst on Monday, December 18, 2017 at 2
pm. Reception to follow. Burial will take place in
the St. Charles-Nativity Cemetery.
Donations in memory of Regina may be
made to the East Cumberland Lodge.
