RAYMOND BRADLEY THORARINSON, VE4SD, Bachelor of Science 1979, Computer Science and Agriculture.
Born October 6, 1956, died February 15, 2017 suddenly at home from a massive heart attack.
He was predeceased by his parents Stefan (1997) and Agnes (2001) and nephew Wesley Kornik (2008). Brad is survived by his brother Jonas Thorarinson and his four sisters and their families, Norma (Ken) Wilcox, Sonja (Les) Kornik, Carla (Frank) Books and Dorothy (Lawrence) Charney. He will be dearly missed by all his nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and 2 great-great nephews as well as his large extended family of cousins, relatives and friends.
Brad was never one to look to be in the limelight but he was a creative nature lover, exceptional gardener, vegetables and flowers, crops and animals. He was an extreme source of information (could identify birds and creatures), a computer wizard, loyal confidant, green thumb gardener, music lover and photographer. He always had a coffee cup with a message and a shirt with a saying.
Brad graduated from Riverton High School and the University of Manitoba. He worked for the city of Winnipeg, on the Jenpeg Dam construction and at the Delta Marsh. He was an amateur ham radio operator with EMS during the Red River Flood 1979 before cell phones and the Internet. He was a member of the ECN.MB.CA, Riverton Cattle Feeders Co-op and the Arborg Rod and Gun Club.
Born and raised in Riverton he farmed, cattle and grain, with his father and brother Jonas his whole life. He loved the animals and would tell many stories about this or that special animal. Brad will be remembered for his font of knowledge, unique sense of humor, experiments of all sorts (each nephew and niece have their own unique memories) and his big bushy beard and long hair. Most of all we will remember him because he was himself and dear to all of us.
Abiding by his wishes cremation has taken place and no formal service will be held.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Riverton and District Handivan, cheques payable to Municipatily of Bifrost Riverton, Box 70, Arborg, MB. R0C 0A0 or to a charity of choice.
