AUBERTIN, Raymond
Raymond “Ray” Réal Aubertin, 74, of Sturgeon Falls, Ontario passed away peacefully, Monday, March 6, 2017 at the West Nipissing General Hospital in Sturgeon Falls.
Ray was born on September 11th, 1942 in Cache Bay, Ontario. He is predeceased by his parents Emery and Stella (Duguay) Aubertin.
Ray graduated from George Brown College with a welding certificate. He enjoyed a successful career as a welder. His greatest working achievement was as a welding inspector for Trans Canada Pipeline. He was well known amongst his peers as an exceptional welder.
He was a very sociable person who enjoyed many sports. He earned a black belt in Judo, and with his best friend Gerry Hebert they taught and mentored many Sturgeon Falls youth. In the 70’s, Ray got his fixed wing pilot’s license and then went on to obtain his float rating, thus allowing him to fly to small remote lakes for some fishing. He was also an avid reader, but his true passion was gardening; as well, he enjoyed cooking and was always ready to help a friend in need. In his retirement years, he loved to vacation in Cuba where he formed many friendships.
Ray was an extremely loving and proud father of his two sons. He is survived by his younger son, Jean Aubertin of Sturgeon Falls who took great care of him on a daily basis and Gilles Aubertin and his wife Katerina (Maximova) of Ottawa, Ontario; his sister Jeannine Duquette (late Fern) of Lake Tomiko; his brother Georges of Sudbury; four loving grand-children (Nicole, Stela, Stephanie, Brianne) nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
The family of Raymond Aubertin wishes to acknowledge the excellent care that nurse “Judy Perrin” provided for Ray in his time of need. We are grateful for her compassionate care.
Ray will be sorely missed by his family and friends! We love you Ray! You will be in our hearts forever.
Family and friends are invited to join in a “Celebration of life” to be held on Saturday, March 11, 2017 from 12 noon until 2:00pm at Théoret Bourgeois Funeral Home in Sturgeon Falls.
