BERRY, Ralph Reynolds
On January 21st, 2017, Ralph Reynolds Berry passed away peacefully in his 92nd year and is now in the presence of his Lord and Saviour. Ralph was surrounded by his loving family after a short battle with cancer.
Born in Innisfil Township, Ralph Berry, affectionately known as « Bus » to relatives and friends, was a native of Orillia, Ontario. Ralph was a World War II veteran who joined the army (Calgary Highlanders) in 1944, seeing action in France a few days after D-Day. He enjoyed a long career as a police officer with both the OPP in Northern Ontario for 11 years followed by 25 years with the Barrie Police Services retiring as Deputy Police Chief in 1985. Retirement allowed Ralph to spend more time with family and friends, travel with his beloved wife Grace, and further involve himself in the work of the Lord.
He is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Grace, children Matt and wife Rosimar, Tim and wife Heidi, Beth and husband Paul, Timothy and Cathy pre-deceased, grandchildren Lisa, Mark, Michael, Tariq, David, Cherie and Stephen and great grandchildren Chloe, Adara, Orion, Logan, Emma and Amelia. Also mourning his loss are brother Bill, sisters Doris, Barb and husband Doug and Eileen (pre-deceased). He was deeply committed to his family and we will all miss him dearly.
The family extends its heartfelt thanks to the staff at Birchmere Retirement Home, Dr. Lowry for his care, and the Community Care Access Centre for their kind and compassionate care of Ralph and assistance to the family during the last few weeks. In keeping with Ralph’s wishes, cremation has taken place, visitation will be held at the Mundell Funeral Home, 79 West St. N., Orillia on Friday, February 3rd from 2 – 4 & 7 – 9 p.m. A Service to Celebrate Ralph’s Life will be held at the Hillside Bible Chapel, 195 Atlantis Road, Orillia on Saturday, February 4th at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Hillside Bible Chapel, Gideon’s International or the International Coordinated Christian Ministries would be gratefully appreciated.
