Obituary It is with a profound sense of loss and relief to the end of his suffering with alzheimers for 12 years that we announce the death of our beloved friend and companion Hans. He passed away on April 24, 2016 at the age of 85. He was born in Potsdam, Germany on September 14, 1930, but lived most of the time in Hamburg until he came to Canada in 1949, eventually becoming a Professor of History teaching this subject at Brandon University in Manitoba for 32 years. He was involved in many local organizations and was a member of Kiwanis since 1973. He loved God, classical music, nature, animals and little children, also a glass of wine and singing with his beautiful voice. He was a very kind and thoughtful man, considerate, helpful, generous and true. We will miss him greatly and keep his memory in our hearts forever. Hans is survived by his friends and companion, Margot Gaetz, Jack Sims, Rita Hobbs, Steve Cherkewich and 2 cousins in Germany. Our deepest thanks to the wonderfully kind staff at Dickinsfield, third floor Aspen; especially Tim Tim and Margaret. As per Hans’ request, no service will take place at this time. Friends who so wish may make memorial donations directly to the Alzheimer Society of Alberta, High Park Corner, 14925 – 111 Avenue NW, Edmonton, AB, T5M 2P6.
