Obituary for « Percy » Armstrong
Armstrong, Norman Percival « Percy » – Passed away suddenly on Friday, April 28, 2017 in his 88th year. He was the loving husband of June and dear father of Rae (Cecilia) of Oakville, Judy (Dennis) Hunter of Morrisburg, Samantha Armstrong of Toronto and Dean (Robin) of Cambridge. He will be fondly remembered by ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Born and raised on a farm outside of Inkerman, Ontario, Percy grew up to be an accomplished athlete in several sports (playing 5 years with the Inkerman Rockets), an operator and station agent with the CPR for 42 years, and an active member of every community he lived in (Inkerman, Kemptville, and Winchester). Percy dedicated his life to his family, his church and his community. He tirelessly raised funds for the Winchester Hospital, Heart & Stroke Foundation and the Winchester United Church. He was recognized for his reliable, energetic and outstanding contributions by being named, along with June, « Senior of the Year » by the Township of North Dundas in 2001. His energy, sense of humour, enthusiasm and leadership made him a unique and memorable person who inspired and touched the hearts of everyone who knew him.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at the Winchester Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry Funeral Home, 472 Main St., Winchester on Monday, May 1 from 4-9 p.m. Funeral Service will be held at Winchester United Church on Tuesday, May 2 at 11 a.m. Donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, Winchester District Memorial Hospital or the Winchester United Church would be gratefully acknowledged by the family.
Nos plus sincères sympathies à la famille et aux amis de Percy Norman Percival
