Olive Patricia Keswick
1921-2017
REXTON, NB – Olive Keswick, 95, of Foyer
P’tit Chenous, Ste-Anne, passed away peacefully on
Wednesday, June 28th, 2017, after a long
fulfilling life, at the Stella Maris Hospital, Ste-Anne. Born in
Harcourt, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Isabelle (Lamkey)
Keswick.
She was a former member of the Wesley United Church in
Harcourt. Olive was a member of Eastern Star and L.O.B.A.; she enjoyed
curling, reading, travelling, entertaining, fine food and bouquets of
flowers. She also enjoyed spending Sundays and special occasions at
the Girvan Cottage with family and friends.
Graduated from Aberdeen Hospital School of Nursing in New
Glasgow, NS in 1946, her career gave her the opportunity to travel
across Canada, working in hospitals in New Glasgow and Berwick, NS;
Moncton, Rexton, Stanley and Fredericton Junction, NB; Prince Rupert,
BC; and Wawa and Sault-Ste-Marie, ON, where she was employed until her
retirement in 1986. She then moved back to Moncton, then to Rexton in
2014 and finally to the Foyer P’tit Chenous, Ste-Anne in
2015.
Olive is survived by her sister, Jean Girvan (late Lloyd) of
Rexton, nieces and nephews Linda Hannay (late Rodney), Shelley Beers
(Lorne) and Toby Campbell (Ronnie), all of Rexton, Nancy
Girvan-MacDonald (Lonnie) of Grande-Tracadie, PEI, Carla Ganter (Andy)
of Bluesky, AB, Marilyn Goodwin (Leonard) of Baie-Verte, Ferne
Ingraham (late Aubrey) of Prince William and Joey MacLaren (Diane) of
Harvey; as well as by many great nieces and nephews, great great
nieces and nephews and three great great great nephews.
Besides her parents, Olive is predeceased by her siblings,
Harris Keswick (Edna), Oral Keswick (Mae), Frances
« Duddy » Keswick, Florence Henry (Hazen), Mary
« Mayme » MacLaren (Vernon); nephew, Bruce Henry; and
special friend, Whitney Brodley.
Honoring Olive’s wishes, there will be no
visitation at the funeral home. A Funeral Service officiated by Rev.
(Sandy) A.D. Sutherland will be held on Wednesday, July
19th, 2017 at 11:00am,
Thompson’s Funeral Home Chapel, Richibucto with interment to
follow at the St. Andrew’s United Church Cemetery,
Rexton.
The family would like to say thank you to Carol and her girls
at Foyer P’tit Chenous, Ste-Anne, Dr. Eric Martin and the
staff at the Stella Maris Hospital and a SPECIAL thank you to Lea
Richard, as well as to her caregiver Jeanne Warren, who meant so much
to Olive and was with her to the very end. Thank you.
