Neil McLean 21 avril 1929 – 19 juillet 2016

Neil Ferguson McLean P. Eng, MBA April 21, 1929 – July 19, 2016 On July 19th, 2016 in his 88th year Neil passed away peacefully in his sleep at home after a brief struggle with cancer. Neil, son of Lilly and Judge Evan McLean of Picton and brother of Hamilton and Burford (both deceased). Beloved husband for 58 years of Leslie (nee Moseman). Dearly loved father of Neil Jr., wife Cathy, Craig, wife Alison, Karen Plumb, husband Dan and Rebecca McLean, partner Ron Jenkins. Adoring grandfather of Katie, Jodi, Kayla McLean, Tyler, Matthew McLean, Paulina Plumb, Jake, Adam, and Emily Jenkins. Neil grew up in Picton, Ontario and graduated from Picton Collegiate Institute, 1944, and then Napanee Collegiate Institute, 1948. He graduated from Royal Military College in 1952, and Queen’s University in 1953 with his Civil Engineering Degree. Neil graduated from McMaster University in 1970 with his Master of Business Administration where he was elected class representative M.B.A. Association. After graduating Neil worked for Ontario Electric Power at Sir Adam Beck G.S. #2 in Niagara Falls as Consumer Service Representative in Field Construction and Electrical Distribution for 2 years. Then from Sept. 1955 – May 1957 he worked for Racey MacCallum and Assoc. as Field Project Engineer. Neil did Engineering and field construction in Northern Manitoba arranging access to and construction of seven mid-Canada Radar Stations over a distance of 200 miles. While Neil was on holiday in Acapulco in February 1957 he met Leslie who became his wife in February 1958. Then he worked with Gulf Oil Canada at the Clarkson Refinery until 1968. After returning to McMaster to obtain his MBA he began his successful career with Noranda Sales Ltd. (Noranda Mines Ltd.). He worked in various departments involving international travel and retired in 1993 as Vice President of Noranda Sales. Neil’s hobbies were golf and family life and he also participated in volunteer church work. He was a sound pillar to his family and always mild mannered. He was generous when giving and thorough when working. He managed to navigate his way through life with grace and dignity always following the guiding principle to treat others as he would have them treat him. Neil lived in Brampton raising his family from 1964 until retirement in 1993 when he and Leslie moved to Bobcaygeon to have a good time. After 9 years of fun and frolicking they moved to Georgetown to be closer to their children and grandchildren. Recently in 2015 they moved to Greenway Retirement Village in Brampton. We would like to thank all those who have provided care and support during this time. Neil will be fondly remembered and deeply missed by all who knew him. Friends will be received at the Scott Funeral Home “Brampton” Chapel, (289 Main Street North) on Thursday July 21, 2016 from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9pm. A Funeral Service will be held in the chapel of Scott Funeral Home on Friday July 22, 2016 commencing at 1 pm with the family greeting visitors beginning at 12 noon. Interment at Meadowvale Cemetery to follow. In lieu of flowers, Donations in loving memory of Neil to The Canadian Cancer Society would be greatly appreciated by the family.
