Muriel Beatrice Legere – 1924-2017

Muriel Beatrice Legere
1924-2017
LEGERE, Muriel Beatrice – Age
93, of Highcrest Nursing Home, Springhill, passed away peacefully on
October 4th, 2017, after a lengthy and courageous battle with
Parkinson’s disease.
She was lovingly cared for by the staff of Highcrest for
which the family is comforted and indebted.
Mom welcomed everyone into her home, especially those brought
there by her children. She had a great sense of humour and a love of
young people. In 2004 she was awarded a Volunteer of the Year Award by
the Province of Nova Scotia for her work as a teacher’s aide working
with struggling readers. Mom served her faith community for over 50
years as lector, CWL member, choir member, catachist, communion
minister and served on almost every committee in support of St. John
the Baptist Roman Catholic Church. Mom loved the arts and took part in
church and town plays and cantatas. She was a great supporter of
sports, from cheering on her «Lefty» to her children and
grandchildren. In particular, she grew to love basketball and was a
familiar face at both Mount Carmel High School (New Waterford) and
Springhill High School games for many years.
She was predeceased by her husband, Phillip Lloyd
«Lefty» Legere and her parents, Harry and Pearl
Nodwell.
She is survived by her brother, Jim Nodwell; and her
children, Allen (Hope LeMoine), Donna, Marion (Greg MacDonald), Phil
(Connie LeFort) and Alfred. She is also survived by grandchildren,
Kris, Monique (Bruce Algee), Danielle, Laurie, Stewart, Margaret,
Michael (Suse Silva), Anise (Chris McDonald), Tiffany, Phillip and
Daniel; step grandchildren, Monique LeFort (Steve Sveistrup) and
Jacques LeFort (Barb Vienneau); great-grandchildren, Skyler,
Christopher, Madeline, Cate and step great-grandchildren, Isabelle,
Gabrielle and Adelle. Mom instilled a love of learning and travel in
her children and encouraged them to strive for higher education for
which we are eternally grateful.
Arrangements are entrusted to A.H. Brown
