Pauline (Polly) May Simpson-Jones, 84 of Lachine, passed away on August 28, 2017, peacefully at the Jewish General Hospital surrounded by her loving family.
Polly was born in the town of Rosebridge, Quebec to Hilda (Guignon) and Wilbert Simpson in, 1933, the twelfth of thirteen children. She married William (Bill) John Jones a Royal Canadian Navy Veteran of the Korean War, and former Sergeant Detective in the Westmount / MUC police department in 1953 in Montreal. Polly is preceded in death by her beloved husband Bill.
Polly was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and “second mother” to countless family members and friends. Her incredibly kind heart, self-deprecating humor, humility and non-judgmental attitude were a ray of sunshine to all she came in contact with. Polly made you feel special and her life was one to be celebrated and her legacy will be cherished.
Polly is survived by her children Mark Jones (Melissa), Glenda Pietrantonio (Michael), Cindy Hodgdon (Rick), William Jones, (Shelly), and Wanda Sher (Alex). Grandchildren – Michael, Emily, Chad, Lindsay, Matthew, Elliot, Connor, Francesco, Gareth, Owen, and Claire. Great Grand-children – Wyatt, Wesley, Madison, Gavin, Liam, and Alivia.
The family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Dr. Patenaude, and the supportive staff of oncology and palliative care at the Jewish General Hospital. In lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations be made to the Breast Cancer Society of Canada in honor of Polly’s name.
Visitation will be on Saturday September 2nd from 3:00 to 5:00pm and 7:00 to 9:00pm and Sunday the 3rd from 11:00am followed by the funeral service celebrating Polly’s life at 1:00pm at J.J. Cardinal Funeral Home, 560 Pr. Lakeshore Dr., Dorval (Quebec) H9S 2B3 (514) 631-1511 (www.jjcardinal.ca).
Burial will be private and held at a later date.
