(Mike) James Mitchell Hickey
1925-2016
Mike Hickey of McAdam, NB passed away on November 29, 2016 at the Dr.
Everett Chalmers Hospital. Mike was born at Southampton, NB in 1925,
a son of the late Wilson and Arvilla (Stairs) Hickey.
Mike had a strong work ethic and enjoyed his employment as a Carman
with CPR. He enjoyed fiddle music, dancing and bowling. Playing
Auction 45 with fellow retirees was a time of laughter for Mike. With
25 years of service to Lionism, Mike was honored as a Life Member for
his community service work. Mike maintained his farm in Tweedside
where family gatherings and hunting were enjoyed.
He is survived by his wife, Lorraine (Messer) Hickey; four children,
Vaunna Frenette, Moncton, NB, Eleanor Carroll (Frank), McAdam, NB,
Judy McIntyre (Stephen), McAdam, NB and Tim Hickey (Susan), Grand Bay,
NB; a daughter-in-law, Laurel Hickey, Tweedside, NB; a brother,
Chester Hickey (Marjorie), Oromocto Lake, NB; eleven grandchildren,
Natalie (Ray), Zach (Melissa), Tricia (Steward), Christy (Nick),
Courtnay (Mitch), Michael, Matthew, Mark, Mandi (Shawn), Jordy
(Hailey) and Julie (Justin); several great grandchildren,
sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a son, Rodney; a
son-in-law, Alvin Frenette; siblings, Wesley, Stanley and Donald
Hickey, Beatrice Scott, Lena Saunders, Verna Saunders, Mary Ingraham
and Eva Trail.
Visiting hours will be held at Swan Funeral Chapel, 1826 Route 3,
Harvey Station, NB on Friday, December 2, 2016 from 3 to 7 pm. A
Lions Tribute service will be held at 2:30 pm on Friday at the funeral
chapel. Funeral service will be held at Knox Presbyterian Church,
Harvey, NB on Saturday, December 3, 2016 at 2 pm with Rev. Anne
Boudreau officiating. A reception will follow at the church hall.
Interment will be later at Harvey Settlement Cemetery.
