Obituary On Friday, July 27, 2012, Theresa Scales passed away peacefully, following a sudden hospitalization at the age of 86 years. Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband Dr. Joseph; five children, Jeffrey (Beverly), Joseph (Mary), Diane (Warren Blair), Vanessa (Norman Cowley) and Paul (Andrea); 11 grandchildren, Adam (Marieke), Grant (Nicole), Alanna, Bradley, Kimberley, Vanessa (Dustin Stewart), Dana, Blair, Lauren, Maximilian and Zachary; one great grandchild, Riley, as well as her sister Francis Slemko. Theresa was predeceased by brothers, Charlie and Ray; sisters, Helene and Stella (Weber), and grandson Cameron. Born in Lethbridge, A.B., Theresa was trained as a Registered Nurse at the Edmonton General Hospital where she met Joe, her loving husband of almost 65 years. After caring for patients in Kimberley, B.C., and Montreal, Que., she dedicated the rest of her life to raising her five children in Edmonton. Theresa was active in curling, bowling, bridge club and the Catholic Women’s League. Joe and Theresa were formidable ballroom dance partners, spent many summers enjoying and working on their lakeshore cabin, and have been blessed with many quality long-term friendships. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, August 3, 2012, at 11:30 a.m., at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 9830 – 148 Street, Edmonton, A.B. Interment will be delayed and take place later in the day at Holy Cross Cemetery, 14611 Mark Messier Trail, Edmonton. Thank you to the doctors and nurses of Unit 41 at the Royal Alexandra Hospital for their efforts to save Theresa and for their kindness and compassion after her passing.
