Mary Ann Warantz
(nee Woychyshyn)
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother Mary, at the age of ninety years. Mary was born April 16, 1926 to Mike Woychyshyn and Katherine Herchuk who have predeceased her. Mary was also predeceased by her infant daughter Rosie, brothers Nick, Roy and sister Genia (Bill) Griener.
Left to cherish Mom’s memory are her three children, Linda (Ken) McCulley, Bev (Bill) Nodrick, Larry(Lynne) Warantz; eight grandchildren Lisa (Trevor) Shackleton, Ken (Adrienne) Matthews-McCulley, Erin (Dave) McLeod, Jamie Nodrick, Carrie (Doug) Smith, Jonathan Nodrick, Shawna McGarry and Lana Warantz; sixteen great-grandchildren; Jenna, Kailen, Bailey, Alyssa, Hayden, Ava, Benjamin, Taylor, Connor, Cameron, Jacob, Emily, Sam, Chloe, Paige and Deegan; sister Jessie Knox and brother Tony Twerdochlib; sister-in-law Tillie Woychyshyn and many nieces and nephews.
Mom worked hard her whole life making our lives better. Every job she had she made very close friends many of whom she remembered even in her final days. She often spoke of working at the Met, and Andy Young’s Nursery. Mom’s commitment to her family and her dedication to her employers never went unnoticed. Often when greeting people in the community a friendly hello became a story about the past. She retired from the Manitoba Developmental Centre in 1987. Mom often spoke of returning home to Oha north of Shoal Lake, MB where her early childhood was spent living with her grandmother. She showed great pride in sharing this special place with her children and grand-children. Mom loved to be outside and took pristine care of her gardens, especially her roses. Even when help was offered mom always insisted on doing things herself. When she wasn’t in her yard she could be found making beautiful quilts, sewing clothes for her family, cherished needlework or baking. A visit to mom’s house always meant there would be a cup of tea and a special treat in the fridge. Mom’s summers were filled with wonderful family time at the cottage.
Mom will be remembered for her care, love and dedication to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She has left us with many gifts to remember her.

In keeping with Mom’s wishes her ashes will be scattered in places she so loved. A family memorial will be planned at a later date.
