Obituary of Marjorie Geiger
Marjorie Jane Geiger (Welsman) passed away peacefully on Wednesday November 22nd at Beechwood Manor, age 89.
Marjorie was the beloved wife of Donald Geiger for 62 years, who predeceased her in 2013. She is survived by her children Theodore (Margaret), Celia (Ged), Glen (Sarah) and Peter (Susan). Marjorie was loved by her grandchildren Bronwyn (Daniel), Rachael, Laura, Owen, Sydney, Jackson, Austin, Joseph (Rebecca), Michael (Kathleen), and Thomas (Nicole); and also loved by her great granddaughter Hazel.
Marjorie is also survived by her sisters Isobel Welsman and Ruth McAdams. She was pre-deceased by her father Theodore Welsman and Marjorie Welsman (Isaac).
Marjorie was born and raised in Montreal. She achieved a Bachelor of Science degree from McGill University and a Master of Science degree from the University of Waterloo. She worked as a Geologist in Calgary before marriage to Donald in 1951. Marjorie and Donald moved to Waterloo in 1954 where he practiced Medicine and she worked at the University of Waterloo as a Management Assistant. Marjorie was active in the University Women’s Club. She earned her Private Pilot’s License and enjoyed flying with her husband.
The Geiger family wishes to especially thank the staff at Beechwood Manor Retirement Home for the loving care that Marjorie received from them. The Geiger family would also like to thank Marjorie’s special friend Jan Dyck for her loving companionship to our Mother.
The Geiger family will receive family and friends at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Sunday November 26th from 2 to 4 pm. A private memorial for Marjorie will be held next summer at the family cottage in Muskoka.
Marjorie will be missed by her sisters, children, grandchildren and great-grandchild. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory can be made to the Alzheimer Society of Canada and may be arranged by contacting the funeral home at www.erbgood.com or 519-745-8445.
