Margaret Ann (Peggy) Kirkness
(nee Freeman)
August 11, 1948 – December 12, 2016
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend at the age of 68 years at the Selkirk General Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer.
Peggy was predeceased by her parents Harry and Bonnie Freeman; in-laws Jim and Betty Kirkness; sister-in-law Marybelle Moore; brother-in-law Lawrence Jablonski and numerous aunts and uncles.
She is survived by her husband James (Jim); son Christopher (Elaine); daughter Angela; three grandsons Kyle, Kelly and Christian; brothers George (Kathy), Bob, Ronald (Hazel), Rick (Marce), Gary (Darlene) and Rod (Maria); sisters, Betty Hawrysh, Gerri Jablonski and Tannis (Randy) Barker; brother-in-law Jim Moore as well as numerous nephews and nieces.
Peggy was born and raised in Old England where she was a member of St. Clements Church and served many committees. Peggy was also a member of Army and Navy and Air Force Ladies Auxilary, Unit 151.
Mom could always be counted on to get the job (any job) done! She spent countless hours volunteering at many fundraisers and functions in the community.
Mom also enjoyed many years of camping throughout the province and most recently at Morden Meadows. Gallivanting to Saturday morning garage sales and long weekend road trips were her favorite past times. Above all else mom loved to spend time with her family and friends. Our mom was well known as “Auntie Peggy” by many children who attended her day care over the last forty plus years.
The family would like to thank all of the health care professionals who were involved in her care and also Archdeacon Godfrey Mawejje.
In keeping with Peggy’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a Celebration of her life will be held in the summer. Details will follow at the time.
