Margaret May Sonmor (née Corrigan), born in the Nipawin Hospital on May 31, 1937 passed away peacefully on September 16, 2017 at the Rosetown and District Health Centre. She is survived by son Rick (Shannon) Sonmor and children, Tony (Candace) Sonmor and daughter Jenna, Scott Sonmor, and Mitchell Sonmor; daughter Marlene (Brent) Secord and children Vanessa (Curtis) Secord, Jeff (Janelle) and son Jackson Secord, Jessica Secord (Kelson Elliott) and daughter Jaycee and Lee Southernwood; son Dan (Donna) Sonmor and children Drew Sonmor and Paige Sonmor (Jon Degner); brothers and sisters Glenn (Bonnie) Corrigan, David (Carol) Corrigan, Loretta (Arvid) Ostlund, Roy (Charlotte) Corrigan, Diane (Dennis) Holmen and Charlotte (Bryne) Degerness; and numerous nieces and nephews. Marg was predeceased by her husband Leif; daughter Christine; parents John and Laura Corrigan, Leif’s parents Martin and Marguerite Sonmor; and sister-in-law Margaret Corrigan.
Mom grew up in Love, SK., later moving down to the Coteau district south of Forgan to help with relatives on their farm. At that time she met the love of her life, Leif, to whom she was married on October 12, 1957. They moved to the family farm and raised four children and numerous foster kids. Mom worked at the Elrose Golden Years Lodge for a number of years while continuing to help Dad on the farm. They moved to Rosetown in 1989 for the winter months and in 1994, they moved to town permanently. Mom enjoyed square dancing, playing cards with friends, hooking rugs, reading, and her grandchildren. She also enjoyed her animal companions. There wasn’t a garage or auction sale Mom missed as she tried to find a good bargain on antiques or a book to read.
