After a protracted battle with cancer, Madrona (Donna) Joson passed away on December 22, 2016 in Red Deer, Alberta at the age of 71. She will be dearly missed and forever loved by her husband, Vicente Joson; her daughter, Maricris Sawicki (Rafal Sawicki); her son, Justin Joson (Rachel Joson). She was a devoted grandmother to grandchildren Sophia, Roman, Tiyana, Saydi and Jaden. She will also be missed by her large extended family and her many friends.
Donna was born on October 20, 1945 in Manila, Philippines to father Eulalio Rosario and mother Jovita Rosario, who predeceased her. She grew up in a large, loving family being the only sister to six brothers (Romulo, Herminio, Elpidio, Delfin, Oscar and Narciso) whom she was very close to. She graduated from the University of Santo Tomas in Manila with a Bachelor of Science in Education, Major in Library Science. Subsequently, alongside her husband Vicente, she emigrated to Toronto, Ontario in 1971, then to Calgary, eventually settling in Red Deer, Alberta.
When diagnosed with breast cancer in 1994, she remained dedicated in her will to fight her illness. She remained a brave, iron-willed woman, even throughout her final months. The Joson / Rosario family would like to express their gratitude to very close friends and extended family who supported her until the very end.
