OGDEN, Mamie Permelia Passed away suddenly and unexpectedly at the Riverside Health Centre in Fort Frances, Ontario on Sunday, May 29, 2016, at the age of 78. Mamie was born on March 20, 1938 to Wesley and Ida Ogden. She was a sister to David Ogden (Atikokan, Ontario), Lawrence Ogden (Burlington, Ontario), and Cecil Ogden (Thelma) (of Emo, Ontario), sister-in-law to Pat Ogden and Ted Corrigan. Mamie was predeceased by her parents Wesley and Ida Ogden; her brother Alexander, her sister Jean, and sisters-in-law Carol and Edith. She will be sadly missed by her many nieces and nephews, other relatives, friends and neighbours. Mamie was born and raised in the Emo area on her parents’ farm south of town. She attended the Aylsworth and Lash public schools and was a graduate of the Fort Frances High School. Shortly after graduation she began a 35-year career as an elementary school teacher that included positions at Mather 8, Ear Falls, Mather and Potts, and Sturgeon Creek elementary schools. In 1958-59 she attended teachers’ college in North Bay where she obtained the teaching certificate required of all teachers. Mamie made considerable efforts to keep herself physically fit and enjoyed a number of outdoor activities including in her earlier years, hunting, fishing, playing fast ball, snowmobiling, and curling as her top highlights. Over time, she became more avid in her retirement and could be found playing a fun-loving game of golf, cycling, walking, cross-country skiing, bicycling, gardening, and enjoying rides on her scooter. If not outdoors, she could be found with nieces or nephews doing crafts, various art projects or canning her garden’s bounty. She had a keen sense of humour as well as a compassionate heart for anyone or any creature in need. God has walked with our beloved Mamie, and we could ask for nothing more. A time of remembrance will be held on Thursday June 2, 2016 from 3:30-5:00pm from the Northridge Funeral Home in Emo for family and friends. As per Mamie’s request cremation has taken place, followed by a private interment in the Emo Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Mamie has requested that memorial donations may be made to the Riverside Emo Health Centre; Friends of Animals or a charity of your choice c.o Northridge Funeral Home, P.O.
