Obituary for Madeleine Vachon
Madeleine Vachon 1938-2017
Born in the village of Chiswick, Ontario, Madeleine is the daughter of the late Blanche Laurin and the late Alex Vachon. Madeleine was the beloved long-time partner of the late Janice Inglis (2013)and is fondly remembered by Janice’s sister and brother, Wendy Perkes (Barry) and Brad Inglis (sons Ashley and Paul) as well as numerous friends, colleagues and neighbours.
Madeleine was a dedicated secondary school teacher having taught at Pensionnat Notre-Dame de Lourdes, Sturgeon Falls Secondary and École secondaire Franco-Cité. She volunteered on behalf of persons with a developmental disability at the local, regional and provincial levels.
In 1995, she was honoured as Volunteer of the Year by the West Nipissing Public Services Association for her many years of volunteer action.
Madeleine passed away at Au Château on August 29th, 2017 following a lengthy illness. She will be remembered for her outspoken advocacy on behalf of the vulnerable and marginalized as well as for her loyalty and generosity.
In honouring Madeleine’s wishes, a private gathering of her friends and loved ones will be held to celebrate her life at a later date.
