Scully, Madeleine [Villeneuve] 1924 – 2016 Knowing that Madeleine Scully (nee Villeneuve) is in her husband’s arms and cradling her son Patrick whom she never got to hold brings the Scully Family a sense of peace. She left us quietly and sneakily on her own terms and she was absolutely ready to get her journey started. Tougher than nails yet softer than anything, she brought so much joy to everyone who knew her. She had a faith that could not be rivaled by anything, because above all, she knew that God would take care of everything. Of course that did not stop her from playing game upon game of solitaire while waiting for her teenaged children to come home, which of course meant she was assisting by beating the devil. She was a stay at home mom who worked harder than any possible career could require. Raising seven children, all with distinct personalities, was a task she took very seriously and did so very lovingly. She reached the beautiful age of 92 on May 1st and after a very brief illness was summoned to go and meet her maker, and on several occasions told us that she had no life regrets and was ready to go. Madeleine was predeceased by her husband Albert (1989) and her infant son Patrick, as well as her siblings Gerard Durette, Georgette Beaudry and Marguerite Legault. She is also reunited with her parents Jean and Marie-Louise Villeneuve. Left to fill a huge void are her children, Jack (Mary Cole), Louise (Roy Scott) Patricia (Jon Lehti), Helene (Rick Culhane) Richard (Donna Pennell), Marc (Carol Hollands) and Julie (Sean McFarland). Her name “my little Memere” was lovingly referred to by her grandchildren Wanda Renaud (Marc), Cassandra Heroux (Pierre) Kelsey Scott (Sara), Ben Scott (Caroline), Brittany Scott, Timothy Culhane (Josie), Terri Culhane (Doug) Donald and Raymond Scully, Megan and Brett Scully, Renee Lorenzo (Adrian) and Danielle Muoio (Michael). Her great-grandchildren, Jaylin Renaud (Roger), Chelsea Renaud, Theodore and Dominique Heroux, Shayla, Hunter, Sydney, Ella and Olivia Scott, Mikayla, Serena and Chiara Culhane will also be grieving their “little Memere”. Also grieving are her siblings Cecile O’Brien, Sylvio, Lucien and Reynald Durette. She was also cherished by so many nieces and nephews. To thank the amazing staff at Extendicare to some may look like a formality, but our family has been very present in Mom’s life since she moved there. We witnessed firsthand how cherished she was by all who interacted with her, from dancing with her, helping her at Bingo, trying to keep up with her as she raced down the hall, making amazing breads and crafts or taking care of her physical and emotional needs; they did so with pure joy. The Scully family will welcome friends at the Buffam Leveille Funeral Home on Friday, May 27, 2016 from 2:00 – 4:00 and 7:00 – 9:00 and on Saturday beginning at 9:30. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, May 28, 2016 at 11:00 from St-Patrick’s Catholic Church in Cobalt. Interment will follow at Cobalt Veterans’ Cemetery – Haileybury. Donations in Madeleine’s honour to the charity of your choice will be gratefully accepted. Condolences, contributions and memorial candles may be left at www.buffamleveille.com.
